Let me take you back to 2007 — when I first stepped into the world of Medicare.
I was with Humana, and I’ve got to be honest… we got great training on Medicare itself. But when it came to marketing? We were on our own. At first, the company fed us leads — which sounds great — until the leads slowed down. And with them, so did my production. That’s when I realized something critical: if I didn’t learn how to market myself, I wouldn’t last.
So I got out there. I hustled. I figured out how to grow my book of business the hard way. And eventually, in 2013, I launched my own agency: TMS Insurance Brokerage. Since day one, our mission has been to help other agents succeed — not just with contracts or certifications, but with real-life strategies that actually work.
By 2020, we saw a need. A big one. Our agents had questions — and we had answers. So we started a podcast, just for our team. Something casual, something real. We called it Medicare Agent IQ. At first, it was private — a way to mentor our agents, share lessons, and stay connected.
But in 2023, we decided it was time to go public.
Why? Simple: too many agents out there are trying to figure it out alone. They’ve got the license. They’ve passed AHIP. But no one’s teaching them how to grow. No one’s breaking down the real-world stuff — like what to say at a client’s kitchen table, or how to build referral relationships without feeling salesy.
So now, every week (most of the year), we drop new episodes of Medicare Agent IQ. No fluff. No hype. Just honest conversations from people who’ve done it — and are still doing it.
We don’t charge. We don’t pitch. We just want to help.
Because if I can save even one new agent from the struggle I went through… it’s worth it.
